Escot gardens, maze and forest adventure
The Escot estate offers a wide range of activities including an excellent maze, letterboxing, a play barn, mature woodlands to explore, birds of prey, otters and a red squirrel reserve. It’s worth timing your visit to the red squirrel reserve around feeding time so that you can get a close up look at these endearing creatures and learn more about them from their knowledgeable keepers.
Escot have partnered with Devon Birds of Prey who run twice daily falconry displays and bird handling sessions from March to October. In between sessions you can see usually see an eagle, owls, falcons and hawks on display.
On the woodland trails you can discover the Forest Leap – an outdoors drop slide (not for the faint hearted), a wild boar enclosure, climbing frames, tree swings and an unusual pavilion inspired by termites!
Inside the park is a snack shack and a vending machine at the play barn. Outside there’s a gift shop and a pleasant courtyard restaurant serving freshly cooked lunches, cream teas and home made cakes. This can get very busy around sunny summer lunchtimes so we’d recommend planning an early or late lunch to avoid the queues.
Entrance costs £9.50 for an adult and £33 for a family of four, although you can access the restaurant, wetlands and red squirrel enclosure for free.
